Highly praised hay feeder that keeps setups tidy and reduces waste. Customers said it's "sturdy" and allows natural grazing. Particularly beneficial for elderly or special needs rabbits. Works well with litter systems. Bunnies adapted quickly and seem "much more at ease." Heavier than expected, which prevents tipping. Great customer service noted.

I have purchased three open air feeders and matching rollers! My bunnies love them and I especially love the clips that fit into the Rooly litter boxes. Customer service is excellent and I highly recommend supporting this small business.
Hi Suzanne, thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're thrilled to hear your bunnies love the feeders and rollers, and we appreciate your support of our small business. Enjoy!
You can fit a lot of hay in this feeder. The rollers keeps my bunnies busy. My bunnies still like to dig through the hay and pull it out.
Hi there! We're so glad your bunnies are enjoying the hay feeder and roller. Thanks for sharing your experience!
This feeder is the absolute best one I have found to date. I love how tidy it keeps my bunny's set up. I have the rooly grid litter box and was able to purchase stability clips to keep the feeder on and in place. Total game changer!! No more hay waste through the grid holes, much more room for poop so changes are fewer and my girl seems very pleased after a couple of weeks of use. I recommend this to EVERYBUNNYs owner 👌
Hi Aleis, your bunny is absolutely adorable! We're so glad the feeder is working out well and reducing hay waste. The purple faceplate really does look fantastic with the ROOLY grid — great choice! Thanks for sharing your positive experience and recommending us to other bunny owners.
Hi Tabby, we're so glad you're happy with your open air hay feeder! Thanks for your kind words and support.
Bought the hay feeder/hay roller combo for my new foster bunny who is blind and wasn’t eating hay. He ate hay from the hay roller the first day. Now he’s eating hay from the hay feeder. I couldn’t be happier.
Thank you so much for sharing this! Hearing that your foster bunny started eating hay again absolutely made our day. We designed the Open Air Hay Feeder and Hay Roller to encourage natural, comfortable hay eating, so knowing it helped a blind bunny feel confident enough to eat is incredibly special. Thank you for giving this sweet foster bun such loving care, and thank you for trusting Bunny Business to be a small part of his journey
Bunnies love the feeder heads buried into it and I can't keep the roller filled fast enough for them.
Thank you so much, Ian! We absolutely love hearing that your bunnies are enjoying their setup so much! The “heads buried in the feeder” visual made us smile because that is exactly the kind of natural grazing behavior we designed it for And needing to constantly refill the Hay Roller sounds like it has officially earned bunny approval too!
Thank you again for supporting our small business all the way from Ireland. It truly means the world to us! ☘️
Best addition to my buns habitat!!! She free roams, but she has a very large space that is her own space. The material is perfect, she doesnt nibble on it! The hay roller is super cute and she loves it stuffed with crunchy Western Timotee hay with a few treats hidden inthe middle so shes extra excited when I give her one! One piece of advice I have is not to use a soft grass hay, it makes a big enough mess with long crunchy hay- SO MAKE IT EXCLUSIVELY FOR THEHABITAT ONLY!
Hi Cynthia!
This made us smile so much — thank you for sharing! It sounds like your bun has the perfect setup, and we love hearing how much she’s enjoying her roller (especially with those surprise treats hidden inside ).
You also nailed one of our biggest tips — long, crunchy hay really does make a difference for both enrichment and keeping things a bit tidier. Great advice!
If you ever want to switch things up, some buns LOVE using the roller for their dinner greens or herbs too — no hay required! It turns mealtime into a fun little foraging activity and can keep things a bit more contained.
We’re so happy the materials have been a good fit for her — that’s always a big win 🙌
Thank you again for your support — and for giving your bun such a fun, enriching space
This is the best hay feeder ever! Vincent the Gopher Girl eats all the hay I put into it daily. I highly recommend this.
Thank you so much! Hearing that Vincent is diving into her hay every day is the best compliment we could ask for. That’s exactly what we designed the feeder for—making hay easy and enjoyable to eat. Give that adorable Gopher Girl some extra pets from us!
I’ve been looking for hat feeders that will let my bunnies graze at a natural level, and this fit the bill perfectly! Java and Bugs started eating from them immediately. Bugs is 10 pounds and likes to move them around and redecorate, but that’s okay 😆 Great customer service as well!
Thank you so much, I enjoyed making the hay feeders for Java and Bugs. I'm so glad they like them!
I can't recommend this highly enough! My elder bun not only has issues with arthritis, but was diagnosed with a large tumor on her chest between her front paws. We decided to forego a litterbox as she was having trouble getting in and out and are using washable peepads instead. This open air hay feeder is a godsend! She can easily access her hay and it fits perfectly on the pad so she can eat and poop at the same time! Perfect for any elderly or special needs rabbit.
Thank you so much for sharing this, and for giving your sweet bun such wonderful care We’re so glad the feeder is making things easier and more comfortable for her. That’s exactly what we hope for when we design these — accessibility and comfort for every bunny, especially seniors and those with special needs. Sending gentle nose boops to your girl
These things are the best. With the Rooly litter boxes this keeps the hay in place and clean. If you have one of the litter boxes get these. If you have any litter box witb grates get them. They arent cheap but so worth the money.
Works perfectly for clipping stuff together!
We're so glad to hear the clips are working perfectly for you! Thanks for sharing your feedback.
Works great!
Once my bunny got used to it, he seemed much more at ease and comfortable while eating his hay. The hanging wire rack wasn’t working for us anymore. Thanks!
These are so fantastic. I almost didn't upgrade to the rooly boxes because I was afraid of not being able to use our open air feeders - these stability clips solved that problem and hold the hay feeders securely, even when our bunnies jump into them.
Hi Kristi! We're so glad to hear the stability clips are working well for your bunnies and your feeders. We love ROOLY and are so glad you were able to use their litter boxes with our feeders successfully! Thank you for sharing your experience!
Love it
Easy to assemble and fits perfectly into Rooly grid. My buns had no problem eating their hay on first go. I bought one for daughter’s bunny.
My bunny Matilda already loves it! Thank you for such a unique idea to help waste less hay. We are happy to help other rescue buns with our purchase too!
Thank you so much, Taryn! We are glad Matilda is enjoying her hay feeder!
Perfect

Amazing! Everything is my bunny's favorite and the owner is super nice ❤️
Thank you so much, Olivia! 💗 We’re so happy to hear your bunny is loving everything! Creating products that encourage natural, happy bunny behavior is exactly why we started Bunny Business, so reviews like this truly mean the world to us. Thank you for your kindness and support 🐰
The buns get the hay easily and works great with the Rooly Litter Box. Will order again if the need arises.
Thank you so much! We’re so happy to hear your buns are enjoying the Open Air Hay Feeder and that it’s working well with your ROOLY setup! Hearing that the hay is easy for them to access is exactly what we designed it for 😊 Thank you again for your support and for taking the time to leave a review!
These are great and they work in my extra large bum box too.
Hi Kandi!
Thank you so much for your kind review—I’m so happy to hear they’re working well for you!
That’s especially helpful to know about your extra large BumBox too! While they’re designed specifically for the original stainless steel ROOLY, it’s always great to hear when they can still be useful in different setups.
I really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience—it truly helps other bunny parents feel more confident trying them out 😊
Thank you again for your support!
Love it! My rabbit can access his hay much easier now.
Thank you so much, Mary Beth!
I’m so glad your rabbit is enjoying easier access to his hay—that’s exactly what the feeder is designed for! It means so much to hear it’s working well for you both 😊
Inspired by the way rabbits naturally eat—not by the way hay feeders have always been made.
The Open Air Hay Feeder is a rabbit hay feeder designed around the way rabbits naturally eat. Most traditional hay racks were built for convenience—not for rabbits. Bars, narrow openings, and elevated designs can force rabbits into awkward postures just to reach their hay.
We think the answer is simple. From the top. From any angle. Without pulling, straining, or fighting with bars.
Whether you call it a hay feeder or a hay rack, our goal is the same: give rabbits a safer, more natural way to enjoy unlimited hay.
We designed the Open Air Hay Feeder after struggling to find a hay feeder we’d trust for our own rabbits. Like everything we make, it started as something we wanted in our own home.
How it works
The Open Air Hay Feeder is a freestanding, floor-based feeder that lets rabbits graze naturally from an open pile of hay — no bars, no restrictions, no frustration. Just hay, the way they’re meant to enjoy it.
- 360° access — eat from any side, any position
- Stable base — supports rabbits that lean while eating
- No bars or restrictions — natural, stress-free feeding
- Durable & safe — made from sturdy, non-toxic materials
- Easy to fill — wide opening for quick hay refills
- Easy to clean — smooth, wipeable surfaces
Why an open top?
Rabbits naturally graze from above, moving freely as they eat. By removing bars and restrictive openings, the Open Air Hay Feeder lets them choose the angle that’s most comfortable—whether they’re stretching, sitting, or simply enjoying a quiet meal.
Perfect for
✔ Free-roam rabbits
✔ Exercise pens
✔ Standard rabbit litter boxes
✔ ROOLY litter boxes
✔ Senior rabbits
✔ Rabbits with dental issues
✔ Head tilt rabbits
✔ Bonded pairs
Especially helpful for special needs rabbits
The open-access design can be a game-changer for rabbits who need a little extra support: dental issues or missing front teeth, head tilt, hind leg weakness, arthritis, vision impairment, or simply being a senior bunny who deserves a gentler feeding experience.
Customize your feeder
Every Open Air Hay Feeder includes one Coconut White feeder body with your choice of interchangeable faceplate from our Cotton Candy Collection: Bubblegum Pink, Razzyberry Blue, Grape Lavender, Lime Green, Lemon Yellow, or Coconut White for an all-white look.
Want a new look later? The interchangeable faceplates can be swapped in seconds, so you can refresh your feeder without replacing the entire unit. Collect seasonal colors, match your bunny’s space, or simply change things up whenever you like.
Works beautifully with many rabbit setups
The Open Air Hay Feeder is designed to sit securely inside standard rabbit litter boxes rather than clipping permanently into place—making it a natural fit for free-roam homes, exercise pens, and popular systems like the ROOLY litter box.
If you use a ROOLY litter box, our optional ROOLY Stability Clip Set helps keep the feeder even more secure while still allowing the flexible grate to do exactly what it was designed to do.
